The second stage of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating ended in the night in Quebec, greeting the American continent where the protagonists will return in six weeks for the final in Vancouver.

Laval's audience is witnessing a comeback also in the men's race where the Olympic vice-champion, the Japanese Shoma Uno, after a short program spotted by a fall, with 188.38 points scored the second absolute score of the season in a Free Program and imposed with the total score of 277.25. One surpasses the American national Canadian Keegan Messing who stops at 265.17 points going up for the first time in career on the podium of a Grand Prix trial. The fresh seventeen year old South Korean Juhnwan Cha enters the annals and, after confirming the third position of the Short Program, with 254.77 points brings for the first time in history a Korean male skater on the podium of a Grand Prix.
Eighteen years after the victory of Sarah Abitbol and Stephanie Bernadis (the third for the French couple in a Grand Prix) in the Sparkassen Cup on Ice in Gelsenkirchen, Vanessa James and Morgan Cipres bring France back to the top of the podium in the Artistic Couples. The binomial, world bronze in 2018, after having imposed itself as a measure in the Short Program, widens the gap in the Libero until it imposes itself with more than 20 margin points from the other of the 221.81 total points. Despite a non-incisive final race segment worth only the partial fourth, the Chinese Cheng Peng and Yang Jin defend the second final position (201.08) from the return of the Canadians Kirsten Moore-Towers and Michael Marinaro who with 200.93 points confirm the third position resisting the Russians Aleksandra Boikova and Dmitrii Kozlovskii, junior world champions in 2017 who at their debut in the Grand Prix of the major category get the second score in the Free Program and the fourth place finish with 196.54 points.
In the women's field returns to victory (the fourth in career) after the Cup of China and the final of 2014, the twenty-year-old Russian Elizaveta Tuktamysheva already world champion in 2015. After the disappointing seventh position in the Programm Corto, the double world champion Evgenia Medvedeva wins the victory in the free segment and goes back, with a total of 197.91 up to the third position to close a 5-lap streak in the Grand Prix trials started with the Skate Canada 2016 .
