With the third place. the twenty year old, coached by Franca Bianconi, becomes the first Italian skater to get on the podium of a Grand Prix race.

Matteo Rizzo writes another page in the history of Italian figure skating in men: after being the first to win a Grand Prix Junior (last year at Egna) and to win the Bronze medal at the Junior World Championships, since yesterday the first Italian skater to get on the podium of a Grand Prix trial. It takes place in Hiroshima, in the NHK Trophy, the fourth stage of the maximum figure skating circuit. After obtaining the fourth position in the Short Program, Rizzo, despite a fall in the quadruple toe loop that opened his Free Program, recovers a position with a test that allows him to establish his personal best in the score of the components of the program (73.64) and to touch his best score in the competition segment (147.71 against the 147.72 obtained in SkateAmerica) where he obtains the third part of the match to settle for a total of 224.71 points.
On the first step of the podium is the Japanese Shoma Uno, who won the victory at Skate Canada and won with authority the access to the Grand Prix final. Despite a Free Program not without uncertainties in the second part, the current world champion with 276.45 points digs the furrow of more than 20 points that separates him from the Russian Sergei Voronov (254.28) that after the third place of Skate America with Hiroshima's second place can still have hopes of qualifying for the Vancouver final act but he has to wait for the opponents' results in the next two stages.
In the women's field, the sixteen year old Japanese debutant Rika Kihira. after the fifth place in the Short Program, he staged a Libero with excellent technical content with two Axel triples and eight triple jumps in total that allowed her to crumble with 87.17 points the best technical score held by the Russian Alina Zagitova (83.54) and climb the top step of the podium with the overall score of 224.31 points ahead of the third place in the last World Championships, the compatriot Satoko Miyahara who stops at 219.47 virtually equaling his best score at SkateAmerica. From the first position of the Short Program to the third step of the podium the world champion of 2015, the Russian Elizaveta Tuktamysheva already winner of the Canadian stage. A double podium that should allow her to qualify for the final in Vancouver where instead you will be sure Miyahara after the victory of Everett and the second place of Hiroshima.
In Vancouver, the Russians Nataliia Zabiiako and Alexander Enbert will surely be present in the Couples of Art, after a week they have won the victory of Helsinki, improving in the scores and setting their best overall score (214.14) with the first place in both segments of competition. They won the second position as in Canada the Chinese Cheng Peng and Yang Jin who, with 207.24, won the ticket for the final in Vancouver. After the fourth place of the Corto, the US national champions Alexa Scimeca Knierim and Chris Knierim get on the podium that with 190.49 get their best overall score.
In the Dance, defending champions Four Continents, the Americans Kaitlin Hawayek and Jean-Luc Baker get their first career win in a Grand Prix stage with a score of 183.05 that allows them to overtake the leaders after the Short Program, the Russians Tiffani Zagorski and Jonathan Guerreiro who have to settle for the fourth free program of the evening and the second final place that, with the third of SkateAmerica, puts them on the waiting list for a possible qualification to the finals. With the third place and 178.64 points the US brothers Rachel and Michael Parsons get the first podium Grand Prix in career.
