With the second place in Moscow, the Italian couple becomes the first tricolor pair in history to arrive at the finals of the Grand Prix in Artistic Couples.

Mission accomplished. Nicole Della Monica and Matteo Guarise reach their goal for the first part of the season: the Vancouver final of the Grand Prix, a historic qualification for Italian figure skating. The students of Cristina Mauri get the second place in both segments of the race and overcome for the first time in the season, their personal best with the new scoring code, the barrier of 200 points, standing at 203.83. The blue couple is preceded only by Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morozov who double the victory of SkateAmerica despite an accident in the morning training which cost 5 points on the chin in Tarasova. The victors of the world in charge are imposed in both segments of the race and conclude the Rostelecom Cup with 220.25 points. Third place for the junior world champions, the Russians Daria Pavliuchenko and Denis Khodykin who are back on the podium after the bronze of Helsinki with 190.01 points.
Seven days after the victory in Finland, Alexandra Stepanova and Ivan Bukin are repeated in the Dance and win, with flying colors, access to the final in Vancouver. The Russian pair touches the 200 points and the personal best closing with the overall score of 199.43 points. Sara Hurtado and Kirill Khaliavin bring to Spain the first medal in history in a dance trial, bypassing, thanks to the second place in the Free Dance, the Americans Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko. The Spanish couple reaches the score of 174.42 and only 21 hundredths of a point separating it from the junior world champions who in turn win the first podium in their career.
In the women's race, after obtaining the absolute record in the Short Program with 80.78 points, the Russian Elena Zagitova prevails with 222.95 points. The sixteen-year-old Eteri Tutberidze pupil double the victory of a week ago in Helsinki and flies to the Vancouver final, maintaining her five-win streak in five Grand Prix races, also considering the victorious final of last season. He climbs on the second step of the podium, improving the third place of SkateAmerica, the compatriot Sofia Somodurova, a pupil of Alexei Mishin. For her 198.01 while the 15 year old Korean Eunsoo Lim brings South Korea to the glory of a podium in the women's test after the victories of Yuna Kim with 185.67 points.
In the men's field comes the expected victory of the Japanese Yuzuru Hanyu who in the Free Program has to deal with an ankle injury occurred in the morning training in the execution of the quadruple loop. Clenching his teeth with pain and modifying the program the two-time Olympic champion imposes himself with 278.42 points ahead of the Georgian Morisi Kvitelashvili who brings his country for the first time on the podium of a Grand Prix trial. The twenty-three student of Eteri Tutberidze establishes his personal best of 248.58 points and climbs on the second step of the podium ahead of the Japanese Kazuki Tomono (238.73) that in the Free program bypasses the surprising Swedish Alexander Majorov who after the third place of the Short Program slips to tenth position.
