Historically, the four weeks prior to the start of the Grand Prix are characterized by sacrifice, often of athletes of the first order. Sometimes, last minute package are due to strategic choices, but in most cases are caused by physical problems occurring.

The script has remained unchanged unchanged even in this season and, with great disappointment for the fans, there have been withdrawals excellent.
In particular, injuries forced before the Finnish Kiira Korpi and then the Korean Kim Yu-Na have released four entries in the lineup of the forthcoming edition. However, ironically, both skaters were assigned to the same stages (Skate Canada and Trophee Eric Bomphard).
At the same time, the French Federation decided not to use one of three places available for the home race, Trophee Eric Bomphard, leaving another vacant position.
Within ten days, the International Skating Union was therefore called to overtime and had to select the athletes who will complete the field participants.
As for Skate Canada, the game will be the twenty-year old Ukrainian Natalia Popova, making his debut in the Grand Prix, and the seventeen year old American Courtney Hicks (pictured), who was also the first appearance in the circuit and fresh convincing success in the U.S. International Figure Skating Classic in Salt Lake City.
Trophée Eric Bomphard will host the veteran Canadian Amelie Lacoste, who recently began training with Christy Krall, the twenty year old American Samantha Cesario, also enrolled at Skate America, and the Ukrainian Natalia Popova, who thus obtained two stages.
Specifically, in both cases Popova has taken the place of Korpi, while Hicks and Lacoste successors to Kim. Cesario, however, took advantage of the French federation step back, probably motivated by the still precarious condition of Yretha Silete, missing last season because of a serious injury to a knee
They came also news on the front pairs of art. The transalpine Vanessa James / Morgan Cypres have renounced participation at Skate America because of the injury suffered in early September by Cypres, but still recorded the stage of the house. The place left vacant in the opening stage of the Grand Prix, scheduled to Detorit between 18 and 20 October, was awarded to Canadians Margaret Purdy / Michael Marinaro, vice-champions championship juniors.
In the coming days can not be excluded other substitutions. Well-informed sources say, in fact, that the pair of Japanese dance composed by the brothers Reed would be a major doubt for Skate America.
