Interview with Claudio Durin, Fisi Master Manager of the Provincial Committee of Brescia

Always linked to the Brixia Sci company, a keen skier since he was a child, about 8 years ago Claudio Durin, Fisi Master Manager of the Provincial Committee of Brescia, has started again to train and participate in some master competition. His goal is to continue for the next few years to represent the Bresciani masters and to make sure to improve and help the development of skiing. Today Claudio Durin tells Neveitalia about the Pontedilegno / Tonale Master Cup Circuit and the master world in Lombardy.

How was the Pontedilegno / Tonale Master Cup Circuit born? The circuit was born this year after the former organizer of the former Ski Master Cup decided to do nothing more. In agreement with the Master in charge of the Central Alps, we have drawn up the calendars of the two circuits so that they are compatible and allow all Lombard master's to participate in both. How does the regulation of the Pontedilegno / Tonale Master Cup program work? The circuit is divided into 18 races of giant slalom and 3 of special slalom. All athletes who have achieved a minimum of 11 results out of 22 races are admitted to the final standings. For the final classification will be taken into account all the results achieved with a gap of the worst 8. In case of equal merit between two or more athletes, the best result is discarded (to follow if further parity). In the final classification for the Company all the scores obtained by the athletes in the individual races are considered, without any difference. What kind of athletes participate in the races of the PontediLegno Tonale Master Cup Circuit? At our competitions, which take place all in the district of Pontedilegno / Tonale, both Lombard athletes and athletes from the nearby Trentino Committee participate. On average we have 120 participants per race. What differences are there between the Pontedilegno / Tonale Master Cup Circuit and the other Lombard Circuit Fischer Master Cup Central Alps? The main difference is that the Fischer circuit has stops in both Valtellina and Pontedilegno / Tonale, while, as the name suggests, ours are exclusively in Pontedilegno / Tonale. Are there stages of the two circuits that are played simultaneously? Yes, at the time of writing the calendars we have agreed dates in which the races were valid for both circuits. This year they have been concurrent with the Italian Masters Cup and the Regional Master Championships, plus another race. Given the difficulties of an ever-decreasing movement, we have tried to encourage trips as much as possible. Which of the two circuits registers more participants in the races? The participants are more or less the same and stand at about 120/130 competitors per race How is the Master situation in Lombardy? Unfortunately, the movement, as already mentioned, is in constant deficit of participants. The reasons are to be found in the loss of members at the national level. Let's not forget that skiing is a sport that is certainly not cheap, it is hard and the injury is always around the corner. Those who decide to compete must pay for everything. Must look for available coaches. There are no structured companies for the master business. There are coaches that aggregate athletes from multiple companies. In practice we know each other and every Sunday we meet to measure each other. The first with the first, the last with last. The spirit that must animate us is that of passion for this wonderful sport, capable of giving us great satisfaction. In the end, in each race, compete against the stopwatch and try to improve from time to time. All the Master races of the Circuit Pontedilegno / Tonale on Planet Master
