Below is a statement regarding the presentation of the European Cup finals of downhill and super-G which will take place next March in Sella Nevea, in the province of Udine.

"The re-launch of the mountain is one of the priority objectives of the Fvg Junta and international sporting events, such as the finals of the men's and women's European Cup of the fast alpine skiing 2019 (European Cup Speed ​​Finals) that we managed to bring back to Fvg. fundamental to reach the goal: they give visibility to the whole territory and are attractive to increase tourism ".
This was stated by the Regional Tourism Councilor Sergio Emidio Bini at the press conference that gave an account of the return of the Alpine Skiing European Cup in FVG, an event organized by the Camporosso Sports Union in collaboration with Promoturismo Fvg, the International Ski Federation ( Fis) and the Italian Winter Sports Federation (Fisi). This is an appointment scheduled for next year, from 11 to 17 March, in the ski resort of Sella Nevea.
"Reporting an event of this caliber in FVG - said Bini - was the result of an important and tenacious teamwork that fits into the actions we want to bring forward to make our mountains protagonists. Winning the final of this international competition can help not only the sporting world of the territory but the entire Fvg that is promoted internationally ".
The councilor stressed the priorities of the regional council for the mountain area including the modernization and implementation of the accommodation facilities. "We have decided to invest significant resources in the redevelopment of hotels - said Bini - and in tourist accommodation facilities to encourage the growth and development of mountain areas. Compared to 2017, the mountain of FVG has grown in presences but still need investments able to guarantee quality services to welcome tourists ".
"The mountain of our region is rich and must be enhanced", Bini reiterated. The vice-president of the regional council Stefano Mazzolini, present at the press conference with Maurizio Dunnhofer (president Fisi FVG), Enzo Sima (national councilor FISI) and Damiano Matiz (councilor of the Camporosso sports union), stressed in particular the importance of reporting the super-giant Europe downhill cup finals in the region: "We have worked hard for this result; it is an event that represents the first step to restore luster to our territory. It is a pleasure to host this competition after many years of absence from the FVG international sporting scenes ". It is estimated that more than 200 guests will visit hotels in the area.
The region has already been the venue for the European Cup finals twice: in 2003 in the Piancavallo slopes and seven years later it was the turn of Tarvisio and Kranjska Gora. The race program includes the women's super-G on March 11th. The women will also be protagonists in the two following days with the days of testing dedicated to downhill, with the race on 14. Saturday 16 appointment with the men's downhill; closing on Sunday 17 entrusted to the super-G, always for men.
