The champion from La Salle is working at home on her left leg, dreaming of returning to the snow as early as the first half of October. While the timing is extremely tight for the opening race, the North American campaign (although the joint’s response will ultimately determine the plans) is certainly the point at which Fede could return to the World Cup.

Federica Brignone underwent surgery on her left knee to remove the plate and screws inserted on April 3, 2025, exactly sixty days before the opening race of the next World Cup, the giant slalom on the Rettenbach in Soelden scheduled for October 24.
It is only natural that, with the entire South American snow-training period then ruled out, making it to the Oetztal after the month of preparation that her teammates began at the start of this week would require an “Olympic-style” miracle. However, the two-time winner of the crystal globe intends to return able to manage pain that is markedly different from what she endured during the crazy two and a half months between her return to the snow on November 26, 2025, and her second gold medal in Cortina, in the giant slalom at the Games, on February 15, 2026.
Three days after undergoing surgery in Milan and being discharged 24 hours later (on Wednesday afternoon) from La Madonnina clinic, the tiger from La Salle is already roaring at home—in the sense that she immediately began exercising, using physiotherapy devices applied to her left leg, which is currently possible to accelerate her recovery. Dr. Andrea Panzeri, who performed the operation together with Dr. Gabriele Thiebat, spoke of four to six weeks before returning to physical activity. Brignone’s entourage hopes she will get back on snow by the first half of October, after just one day on the slopes during the entire spring and summer, on July 30 in Cervinia.
A return to the World Cup during the weekend of November 28–29 is becoming a realistic possibility. That weekend will mark the return of Killington to the premier circuit’s calendar after just one year on the sidelines, with the giant slalom on the “Superstar” course preceding the two races the following week in Mont-Tremblant. The North American campaign will then conclude in Beaver Creek from December 11 to 13 with two downhill races and a super-G—the first speed events of the season.
