Kranjska Gora will host the canceled women's technical races in Maribor, then for the third consecutive year all on Podkoren for a great show, on the weekend of 8-9 January with the fifth giant of the World Cup season, followed by 24 hours later from the sixth slalom of the year.
The times were maintained (to "fit" them with those of the same men's races in Adelboden), ie the first heat at 9.30 and the second at 12.30, on both days of competition, and the shift from a decidedly less technical track like the Pohorje to a sacred monster like Podkoren, can only make the two best blue gigantists smile in particular, Marta Bassino and Federica Brignone.
The Cuneo-based, in Kranjska Gora, signed an extraordinary double in January 2021, literally dominating the two giants expected in that case, but let's not forget that, before Alice Robinson's victory in February 2020, the edition recovered in 2018 also saw Sofia Goggia obtained his last giant podium right on Podkoren, even if in Maribor he did even better a year earlier, touching that success between the wide doors that the Bergamo champion still lacks.
If we think of that 2018, there was Mikaela Shiffrin's giant-slalom brace and it is the American one, waiting for the first pads of the beginning of the year (with the participation in the Zagreb slalom difficult, but not to be excluded), the great doubt of the weekend on Slovenian snow.
