Bassino fishes on the 5th, Brignone on the 7th: the startlist of the first giant from Kranjska Gora, Worley and Shiffrin open

Saturday on the Podkoren (1st heat at 9.30, the decisive one at 12.30) is again a challenge between the wide doors, with the red bib from Cuneo on the track where she dominated two years ago. The American (bib 2) chasing Vonn, but watch out for Gut-Behrami (3), Vlhova (4), Hector (6) and also Grenier with the 12. Zenere, with the No. 32, leads the quartet of the other blues in seek qualification.

There will be no "green ice", recalling the broadcast that NEVEITALIA carries out every Monday together with Paolo De Chiesa, seen two years ago when Marta Bassino lost all her rivals, but it will still be a very tough Podkoren, for the splendid double appointment as a giant in the Kranjska Gora weekend. Fifth and sixth specialty race, between Saturday and Sunday on the Slovenian slope which is suffering from high temperatures these days, but was in any case prepared in the best possible way by the organization starting from the first challenge which will start at 9.30 on Saturday (at 12.30 the 2nd round, both live on Eurosport 1 and Rai Sport). There will be French tracking for the opening heat and it will be the leader of the transalpine team, Tessa Worley, who will wear bib number 1 to seek that triumph already close a year ago, when the double world champion was second (in reality with a wide gap) behind Sara Hector and in front of Bassino. The Cuneo-born, specialty leader and back from 6 consecutive podiums in giant slalom, picked bib number 5 in tonight's draw, thus starting after Shiffrin too, who tomorrow with the No. 2 on her shoulders will go in search of hooking up to Lindsey Vonn at 82 successes in CdM (and the third in the series between the wide doors after the double by Semmering), postponed to Zagreb with the cancellation of the second slalom which took place yesterday, a Lara Gut-Behrami (bib 3) who regained confidence with the two days from Austria and Petra Vlhova (number 4), still second in Croatia and called to take the first victory in this season, however positive for the Slovakian, second in the general albeit with almost 400 pts of gap from Shiffrin, who has to recover 40 to Bassino in the ranking of giant. The first sub-group will be closed by Sara Hector, also dry in 2022/23 and with a bit of lost confidence in the last few races (including slalom), dominant here in 2022 and starting sixth in the 1st heat, before Federica Brignone who will have the 7 and will try again to seize the 50th podium in CdM, as well as the first of the season. Will Mowinckel (n° 9) and Grenier (12), excellent protagonists in Semmering, also be in the game? Possible, especially the Canadian who has already done wonderful things on Podkoren, while Austria clings to Liensberger and Troops, with Gasienica-Daniel (who will have the No. 15, not the best) loose cannon as potentially Alice Robinson, who will come out of the gate on the 25th. Having said that there will be Lara Colturi, recovered after the blow suffered in the first slalom in Zagreb (the Albanian had decided to give up on race-2 even before she jumped) and at the start with number 56, there will be four other blues with Bassino and Brignone . Asja Zenere will have a better bib than last week, starting with 32 (and in one of our live broadcasts she had confessed to us that she particularly aimed at these races on a slope she loves) before Elisa Platino, with 44 to hunt for the first points, Roberta Melesi (with number 46) and debutant Laura Steinmair, 62nd of the 64 athletes registered for a naturally special first from the perspective of the 22-year-old from South Tyrol.
