Brignone discharged from La Madonnina clinic, Fede’s first words: “I’m very happy, now a few days on crutches”

Twenty-four hours after undergoing surgery on her left leg to remove a plate and screws, nearly 17 months after the accident in the Italian giant slalom, the super-G and giant slalom Olympic champion analyses the situation awaiting her over the coming weeks. "I’ll soon start physiotherapy and then return to athletic training".

Clearly satisfied and serene the day after going under the knife for the third time in less than a year and a half.

Federica Brignone has been discharged from La Madonnina clinic in Milan, where she underwent surgery early Tuesday afternoon, performed by doctors Andrea Panzeri (president of the FISI commission and a true guardian angel of Italian skiing) and Gabriele Thiebat, to remove the plate and screws from her left knee, injured on 3 April 2025 and still causing some problems for the La Salle champion, as shown by the late-July ski test in Cervinia.

Today, Fede posted on social media: “The operation was successful, the hardware is out, my knee is clean and… I’m fine! A few days on crutches and then I’ll start physio again. Thank you all for your messages”. Then came a video message from FISI, in which the two-time winner of the overall World Cup added: “Everything went well, as Dr Panzeri told you.

After the crutches and physiotherapy, I’ll return to athletic training and I’m very happy, my knee is fine and so am I”.
