On March 6, 1920 the first champion of our ski was born: from the Olympic medals touched to the Aspen world bronze up to the absolute record at the Italian championships, how many stories to tell.

One hundred years and not hearing them, just ask Celina Seghi.
The first champion of our ski, an authentic legend who today celebrates a special birthday, together with the people of Abetone who have seen her grow and become the reference point of the women's national team, still a record holder in terms of Italian titles (25!) won, with that Olympic medal touched several times, a world bronze and the certainty that only the war took away so many triumphs that she would have deserved, in the most beautiful period of her career.
Celina told the weekly "Toscana Oggi" her centenary of life, a special life from the first days, since she was born on March 6, 2020, but was registered at the registry office only 48 hours later due to the heavy snowfall who whitened Abetone.
Schoolmate of Zeno Colò, whose centenary will be celebrated on June 30th, the woman who wrote the first pages of the history of blue skiing has little secrets of an extraordinary longevity: “A piece of chocolate and a daily walk a day, go to bed early, eat in moderation and always keep the past alive â€.
An example of sport and life, capable as a young girl of lining up everyone, including men (and the same friend Zeno Colò!), As at the world championships in Cortina 1941, then not approved by the FIS, when he triumphed in slalom and finished second in combined.
To make up for those medals never awarded he had to wait 9 years, when in Aspen 1950 he obtained bronze in the slalom, but in the meantime he had already triumphed several times at the Arlberg-Kandahar trophy, the maximum for a skier of that period, touching more times the Olympic laurel. She was fourth both in slalom and in combination at the 1948 Sankt Moritz Games, again at the foot of the podium in "her" slalom in Oslo 1952, but little would have changed.
Celina Seghi remains the lady of our ski.
