The countdown has begun in view of what is the queen stage of speed of the Women's World Cup, namely the weekend in Cortina d''Ampezzo scheduled, in the upcoming season, from 20 to 22 January 2023. .
Three days, because Cortina Ski World Cup 2023, one of the three Italian events of the Women's Cup (after Sestriere and before Kronplatz), will be a long weekend that will see one race added to the traditional two. It will start on Friday 20 with a super-g (Elena Curtoni was the last to impose herself in the discipline on the Olympia delle Tofane), to continue on Saturday 21 with the classic descent, which last year saw Sofia Goggia triumph again, and conclude on Sunday 22nd with another super-g.
The organization is organized by the Cortina Foundation, the body strongly supported by the Veneto Region, the Province of Belluno and the Municipality of Cortina, together with the Cortina area (Hoteliers Association, Rope Systems Consortium and Cortina Ski Club) to manage major sporting events in the coming years. "The organizational machine, structured on a proven working group which is the same one that oversaw the 2021 world championships, has already been in operation for some time and, in the coming weeks, will be at full capacity - explains Michele Di Gallo, general manager of Cortina Foundation - After the World Cup and after the restart of the cup last January, we are ready for a weekend of high intensity in the Ampezzo valley.
A weekend that will be, as last year, the first of a series of competitive events that, in addition to alpine skiing, will also involve other disciplines, such as ski mountaineering, snowboarding and Paralympic winter sports, in a path of growth for the enhancement of the whole territory, in view of the Olympic appointment in Milan Cortina 2026 ".
