A significant figure, the one completed by Sofia Goggia with the triumph in the second descent of Crans-Montana. One hundred victories in the 55-year history of the World Cup, by a women's national team that can count on 21 different athletes capable of establishing themselves in the top circuit.
Favorite specialty? The giant, with 39 successes (the multiple winner can only be Deborah Compagnoni with 13 seals), then the 26 obtained in descent (12 by Isolde Kostner), the 17 in super-g (here the balance is absolute, Karen stands out Putzer with 4 successes), 12 in slalom (4 by Maria Rosa Quario, it is the discipline where we have fasted for the longest time, over 13 years from the pearl of Costazza to Lienz 2007) and 6 in combined (5 by Brignone and 1 by Bibiana Perez) , since in parallel they never arrived.
Eight (record) victories already this season alone, symbol of the most successful epic together with the one at the turn of the 90s and 2000s with Deborah Compagnoni and Isolde Kostner who, together, put together 31 successes, with the Valtellina still absolute record holder at 16, one more than Val Gardena and Brignone, with Goggia now at -5.
Another woman from Val Gardena, Giustina Demetz, was the first to win in the World Cup and just downhill like today Goggia: it was March 3, 1967 on the snows of Sestriere for that historic occasion that saw the blue conquer the race at Colle ex aequo with a champion like Marielle Goitschel.
While the Blue Avalanche of Thoeni and Gros dominated the circuit, we will have to wait almost 7 years for the second pearl, the first of three in the career of Claudia Giordani, who won on 9 January 1974 in the giant of Les Gets. And here is the first pink avalanche, with "Ninna" Quario triumphing four times in slalom, Daniela Zini two and Paoletta Magoni one (to which is added, however, the extraordinary Olympic feat of Sarajevo ''84), always between the narrow poles , while in January '86 the first super-g seal will also arrive, that of Michaela Marzola in Megeve.
And so we arrive in the 90s: between the triumphs of Compagnoni and Kostner, Bibi Perez rejoices in the combined Hafjell ''93, Lara Magoni in the slalom of the finals of Vail' '97 (ex aequo with Pernilla Wiberg), for three times Sabina Panzanini in giant and then here comes Elena and Nadia Fanchini with two successes each in speed in a very long career characterized by many injuries. The Brescian sisters crossed foils, albeit partially, with two champions such as Karen Putzer and Denise Karbon.
The multiple world and Olympic medalist will win eight times (4 in giant and 4 in slalom), the fairy of Castelrotto six of the wide doors, with Chiara Costazza signing her only seal in slalom in Lienz in 2007 and Dada Merighetti downhill in Cortina in 2012. And with Elena Curtoni's gem in the Bansko descent on 25 January 2020, we arrive at the last seasons, those marked by the "trio of wonders" formed by Brignone, Goggia and Bassino who, together, already have 31 victories in the World Cup.
