Right from the last race of the 2019/2020 World Cup, our journey begins to summarize in ten moments the year that led Federica Brignone to give Italy the first absolute crystal ball in the history of women's blue skiing In addition to the videos, we also offer you our chronicles. Enjoy them all ...
10) Super-g La Thuile - February 29, 2020 - Federica arrives at home weekend as leader of the general, but the calculations are very few to do. Down to the top on the "3 Franco Berthod" to give the Aosta Valley public great joy, albeit significantly reduced due to the restrictions related to the Coronavirus that are already looming. A mistake before the central plan will cost the tenths that will prevent Faith from triumphing at home, even if it will be only a penny to divide it from Nina Ortlieb: a 2nd place that is worth a further extension, even if on balance it will cost the super cup -g. Not bad, thinking about what will come to Are ...
9) Lienz Giant - December 28, 2019 - The 4th place of anger, when there was still reasoning only about the possibilities of Brignone in a giant cup perspective. Faith is unable to interpret the first or the second heat on the "Schlossberg" in the best possible way, losing the podium for 8 cents in favor of Liensberger. His despair at the finish line, however, says everything about the change of mentality: now the Aosta Valley is no longer satisfied.
8) Killington Giant - 30 November 2019 - In the "mini giant" on the snows of Vermont, Federica struggles in the first heat ended 6 tenths from Bassino. The second is a true masterpiece, with the best time worth the comeback and a 2nd place, just ahead of Shiffrin, seasoned by the blue brace with the winning Marta. And 24 hours later, Fede will demonstrate in slalom that he can also play the top five, before getting into the 2nd heat. Another sign of a Brignone capable of anything ...
7) Alpine combined Altenmarkt-Zauchensee - 12 January 2020 - After the cancellation of the race in Val d''Isère, the first combined event of the season is staged in Salzburg. Faith is perfect in super-g, sees Shiffrin and Vlhova go out and manages the slalom heats for himself, containing the comeback of Holdener who will finish second at 15 cents, with Bassino third. The "coppona" is still far away, but in reality this too will be a crucial day.
6) Super-g Sankt Moritz - 14 December 2019 - We return to Europe and the second seasonal super-g is an all-blue show on the Engadine. Sofia Goggia wins, but Federica is second for one cent and still ahead of Shiffrin (third at 13 cents). First seasonal success still postponed, but many points in the pocket.
5) Descent Garmisch-Partenkirchen - 8 February 2020 - Perhaps the most beautiful downhill performance of the Aosta Valley, which if in Bansko had found an ideal track for its characteristics, on the "Kandahar" it proves to be ready for any result in speed even on a complete slope like the Bavarian one. Only an extraordinary Rebensburg will precede it by 61 cents, but Ledecka, Suter and all the other big names are behind.
4) Alpine Combined Crans-Montana - 23 February 2020 - The fifth seasonal pearl of Brignone is worth, with the subsequent cancellation of La Thuile, its first crystal ball of his career. It is the super-g on the Mont Lachaux track that makes the difference, with an extraordinary Brignone who trims almost 6 tenths in Vlhova, which he will then take on in the slalom race in a thrilling duel. It is the turning point in the direct confrontation with the Slovakian, who from -59 ends at 159 points from the Aosta Valley.
3) Super-g Rosa Khutor - February 2, 2020 - In Russia there is a risk of not competing, since all the tests and the descent on Saturday are skipped, but the super-g is brought home and here Brignone unleashes, dominating in front of Goggia and Haehlen for what is his third career success in this discipline. Shiffrin remains in Italy to prepare for the Garmisch races, but on that day he will receive the news of the fatal accident that occurred to his father, returning to Colorado and skipping all the February races: another crucial moment that removes the leader from World Cup.
2) Courchevel Giant - 17 December 2019 - After the second places in Killington (giant) and Sankt Moritz (super-g), here is the first seasonal success in a giant pulled on the snow of Haute Savoie. The Norwegian Holtmann surprises everyone in the first heat, but Fede is glued and in the second she manages to mock the Scandinavian, recovering the two decisive tenths in the final stretch. 4 cents will be enough to cheer and kick off the ride.
1) Gigante Sestriere - 18 January 2020 - Due to the wait that had arisen, the importance of the stakes and the incredible final staged, it is certainly the one on the "Kandahar G.A. Agnelli â€the most exciting day of the season, but also very heavy in terms of results. Brignone leads after the 1st heat preceding Vlhova, Rebensburg and Shiffrin, but the American is extraordinary in the second; the Slovak manages to mock her for a penny, when finally it is up to Federica who, despite losing her margin, concludes ex-aequo with Petra, obtaining an incredible victory with three athletes in one cent. Just the three that will conclude on the final podium of the World Cup.
