After 214 days, Giada D'Antonio is back on snow: the “Black Panther” finally returns to the slopes at Stelvio

Here is the first day of training for the highly anticipated 2009-born athlete from Naples, after completing her lengthy recovery in Turin following the right-knee injury she suffered last February 14. The goal is Levi, in just under two months.

After spending many months based in Turin, undergoing hundreds of rehabilitation and physiotherapy sessions at the J Medical facilities, Giada D’Antonio is ready.

This morning, the hugely talented giant slalom specialist from San Sebastiano al Vesuvio returned to the slopes at Stelvio, 214 days after the last time she took part in that unfortunate training session on the snow in Dobbiaco. It was February 14, and the “Black Panther” tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee during a giant slalom session with her national-team teammates, alongside whom she was fine-tuning her preparation in the midst of the Olympic competitions. After the team combined run, she would have competed in the five-ring slalom.

Now she can start thinking about the goal of Levi, the first World Cup slalom race of the season on November 14, although the schedule still has to be drawn up. Giada, it should be remembered, is part of the European Cup team that, like the various Italian teams preparing for the top circuit, is training in Ushuaia. In October, the 17-year-old from Naples will almost certainly rejoin the group training as she aims to approach the season in the best possible shape—a season that effectively began today with her eagerly awaited return to the snow.
