The blue dreams almost certainly go out after the first round of a world giant from which Italy expected a lot.
On the Olympia delle Tofane everything goes wrong both to Federica Brignone, in full fight for the very first positions before finishing out in the area between Scarpadon and Rumerlo, on the back of Festis, and Marta Bassino who makes a mistake both at the Gran Curvone and at the '' Rumerlo's last critical step, closing out of the top ten with 1 ”54 from Mikaela Shiffrin.
The American is in command in the middle of the race (the second heat is scheduled at 13.30), but Lara Gut-Behrami is really glued to the champion of Eagle, who was actually almost 3 tenths behind at the last intermediate, and then come up with a simply amazing final stretch. The absolute best time in Rumerlo, in fact, was by Katharina Liensberger, who leaves 6 tenths to Mikaela (in search of the first giant world title to really write history) in the last stretch, but is still an amazing third with only 26 cents of posting.
