The last one, terrible, a year ago in Copper Mountain in training, but after a long period of rehabilitation and the removal of the plate applied to the left leg (just in the past few hours, Elena has removed the stitches), the 34 year old from Montecampione is ready to play one last card again. Interviewed by Bresciaoggi, the eldest of the Fanchini sisters (Nadia and Sabrina, among other things, will become mothers in the next few days ...) confirmed that, within the Christmas period, she aims to get back on track, then she will see the evolution of the situation.
"I still don't know if I will be able to continue competing - the camuna admitted - because I am still walking with crutches, but as soon as the doctor gives me permission, I will put the skis back on. I plan to do some skiing for Christmas, without pretense and only as a tourist. I am still part of the national team and the Fiamme Gialle sports group, I am a hundred percent athlete and I have already said that I intend to heal well, and then decide whether to continue or not.
One thing is certain: the word withdrawal for now has not even passed from the antechamber of the brain ... ".
With 173 bibs in the World Cup, participation in 3 Olympics and 6 World Cups, and soon two grandchildren (Alessandro and Nicolò the names chosen by Nadia and Sabrina) to follow, Elena Fanchini still wants to try. One last time.
