Elena Fanchini is a warrior and has no intention of giving up, with the dream of getting back on skis after having been one step away from the final farewell to the world of competition.
On Friday, the sprinter from Brescia will return under the knife to get the plate removed in his left knee, a memory of the accident in a super-g workout, 12 months ago in Colorado when he had just returned to the national team, after defeating the illness and another series of chain injuries.
"A year has passed since my injury to the tibial plateau - Elena wrote on social media - Tomorrow I will be operated on and I will have the synthetic medium (or plate) I have in my knee removed".
The "elder" of the Fanchini sisters played the last race of the World Cup almost two years ago in Val d''Isère, but she is still evaluating her future while Nadia and Sabrina (who retired in 2016), practically in the same days around the beginning of December, they will celebrate the arrival of their respective children.
