Fairytale games for Italy, the best ever for our country, with 40 medals and 10 titles won in Tokyo. The closing ceremony of the Summer Olympics, with Marcell Jacobs blue flag bearer, he who is the symbol of a triumph with the sensational gold double on the 100 meters and the decisive contribution to the 4x100 relay, closes a chapter and already opens a other, given that as never happened in history (unfortunately due to the pandemic), in just 6 months there will be another edition of the Games, the winter ones scheduled in Beijing. And in China, Sofia Goggia will defend her title of Olympic descent champion: the Bergamo-based woman has entrusted to social networks a profound thought on the value of the Games, which are simply unattainable for her. “I jumped on the sofa, I had sleepless nights, I screamed inciting the Italian athletes - the words of Sofia - Tears came to my eyes, goosebumps and shivers. Seeing this splendid Italy in Tokyo 2020 filled the heart with emotion. Thank you. Winning the Olympics is something so great that, in my opinion, it remains almost inconceivable, it is a concept so pure, perfect and sublime that it remains in a sort of Hyperuranium. But then I turn my head and my eye falls on the gold medal I won at PyeongChang 2018; I see it there, it is magnificent, it is true and it is forever. Maybe I haven't been able to realize it yet. My attention is now captured by the interviews of the athletes who have just won and who, still incredulous and pervaded by emotion, talk about how this was their dream from an early age: they still find it hard to believe it. So yesterday, on my day off, I really wanted to go back to the place that was the cradle of my dreams, also bringing, for the first time, that most beautiful metal object: I went back to Foppolo with my medal. In our sport, unlike many others, the variables are many: a breath of wind against, a fantozziana cloud, a pebble on the track that eats the edge of the ski is enough to change the cards on the table, which is why so many skiers they prefer, if they could choose at the table, the World Cups, rankings that reward consistency and performance expressed throughout the entire season. But here sitting on top of Montebello, looking at the little big area from which I started, I see everything again, the first curves, the slopes, I relive the path in my heart and mind, I see the dreams of myself as a child and at the same time, with immense gratitude, I hold them tightly in my hands; I feel excited for all this but also for what I have experienced in these days through Tokyo and ... I feel like saying that for me there is nothing, nothing comparable to the 'Immensity of the Olympics. I think and smile ... if they were to ask me what my dream is, I would reply, years later, with sincere emotion: the same as when I was a child.
