Two hundred points in 24 hours and Sofia Goggia bursts into third place in the overall standings of the World Cup, 150 points behind Mikaela Shiffrin who was dry in the descent number 2 of Lake Louise which saw the Olympic champion dominate again.
With the remodeling of the calendar between technical and fast races (even if at a female level the difference compared to past years is less than for men), it becomes even more interesting to understand if the Bergamo-born can really fit into the comparison between Shiffrin, Vlhova and Gut -Behrami, the main candidates and with the Ticinese already very late, but with "her" specialty that has yet to begin. Here, the super-g could in fact be the key for all the protagonists, starting from Sunday with that of Lake Louise ready to give us the direct confrontation between the blue, the Swiss and the American, who does not dispute one in the cup from the one he won in Bansko in January 2020, but in the meantime he conquered the world bronze in Cortina in the discipline (with the triumph of Gut-Behrami that day over the Olympia delle Tofane).
In the meantime, Goggia is already at full points to try to win his third downhill specialty cup, even if Breezy Johnson is still stuck, as he did in 2020/21, with two second places that lead to six podiums without to win in CdM, after the four third places last winter. In WCSL, Elena Curtoni remains in ninth position while Nadia Delago approaches the top ten and odd numbers, but also in Val d''Isère (December 18) she will start with an even from 2 to 20 like Federica Brignone.
