Goggia sul Cervino, already dreaming of the "Gran Becca": third training block for Sofia

From today, after the work at the Stelvio, the vice Olympic champion of descent on the snow of Zermatt / Cervinia. Only at the end of October the first training sessions on the brand new track which on 5-6 November will host the first two fast races of the next World Cup.

Sofia Goggia in the shadow of the Matterhorn, for the third summer training block towards the 2022/23 season. The Italian champion begins to “outgrow” the Italian champion, after having calmly started work on the track at the Stelvio, for two short sessions on the glacier between Alto Adige and Valtellina. From this morning, the Bergamo sprinter is instead in the Zermatt / Cervinia area, right where the two historic descents are scheduled for 5 and 6 November, the first of the next World Cup after the opening with the Soelden giant on 22 October, on the new “Gran Becca” which will lead from the summit of the Piccolo Cervino to Laghi Cime Bianche, from Switzerland to Italy. The track designed by Didier Defago will be tested by all CdM athletes only in the last weeks preceding the big event, basically from mid-October, while Goggia in the meantime will begin to put kilometers of speed in his legs, followed by the faithful skiman Barnaba Greppi, in these days on the Matterhorn already going with the mind to the challenges scheduled in four months. Between the end of August and September, then, the most important block of work for the blue downhill in Argentina, given that the national team will return to Ushuaia and there will be the first real comparisons also at a chronometric level.
