Goggia seen by Shiffrin: "Aggressive and ... perfect". The fight for the cup will restart from Sankt Moritz

Sofia's triumph in the Lake Louise super-g as told by Mikaela, sixth and still happy: "It was fantastic to admire her from the start". On Saturday and Sunday the two races in the Engadine: the last few times in those parts they won, Goggia and Shiffrin.

Sofia Goggia seen by ... Mikaela Shiffrin. Let's think about it for a moment, what happened in Sunday's super-g in Lake Louise that crowned the Bergamo champion, able to complete the Canadian trio by burning Lara Gut-Behrami for only 11 cents, but with the American who was still in front of 18 cents (the Ticinese had even 25) at the end of the most technical section, before leaving over 7 tenths on the plate to finish in sixth position. Shiffrin who observes Goggia's test, dropped four numbers before her, and tries to compete for success without, however, being able to still have that confidence with speed (which certainly was very different up to Bansko 2020) in the most smooth part of the Lake Louise track. An appetizer of the possible duel for the general, which certainly opens at least to Petra Vlhova and Lara Gut-Behrami, fully competitive for the crystal ball, which will now pass from the two super-gs scheduled for Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 December in Sankt Moritz . And the beauty is that the latest specialty races held in the Engadine, in 2018 and 2019 (last year everything jumped due to the weather), were won respectively by Shiffrin and Goggia, with the Bergamo rider who folded Brignone for a cent and for 13 Mikaela, but was absent 12 months earlier due to the ankle fracture remedied in October. A few months later, in February 2019, only two cents divided them in the world super-g of Are ... "The descents had been a bit disappointing, but I couldn't really expect more - said Shiffrin in the post race, referring to 26th and 38th place in the two opening races of the Canadian weekend - I had to put aside my pride and accept my level, even if it is clearly frustrating. At the same time, it is now nice to find certain sensations in super-g, without specific training. But I want to say that seeing Sofia was enlightening: she looked perfect, aggressive, everything was in the right place. It was fantastic to admire it before leaving ”.
