The fourth and final women's race of the Aspen Finals will be the Giant, evidence that will close the season full of Worley-Shiffrin duel for the cup of specialty.

Aspen is a town located in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. It is one of the most important as far as alpine skiing, so as to have hosted several races of the World Cup since 1968, and the edition of the World Cup of 1950, in which Zeno Colo was protagonist with gold medals in Downhill and Giant and silver in Slalom.

In all, 16 of the Giants so far in Aspen World Cup played, most of them in the new millennium, when the city of Colorado has become virtually permanent fixture with the technical disciplines, usually in late November.
The only woman capable of commanding 2 times it is Tessa Worley, riuscitaci 29 November 2008 and 27 November 2010. At the level of the podium Giant leader of Aspen's Kathrin Zettel, who won only 25 November 2006, but in able to get even 3 seconds and 1 third place for a total of 5 the top three.
Italy is at 4 podiums in this race, all third places obtained by Wanda Bieler on 8 March 1981 and 3 times by Federica Brignone (November 28, 2009, for what was his first podium in the World Cup, 29 November 2014 and 27 November 2015).
BOWL OF SPECIALTIES 'OF GIANT
The Aspen Giant will also award the cup specialty. Clearly favored Tessa Worley, as well as having in their favor earlier on this track, it is in Colorado with 80 points ahead of Mikaela Shiffrin; this means that the French simply place themselves in the top 12 to win the trophy regardless of the outcome of the American.
Shiffrin vice versa must necessarily win, as if it came second with Worley out of the points, the cup would still French: equal wins (3) would be the second places (3 to 2) to decide the positions.
The Italians were leading players during the season, and the crowning achievement could be the third step of the podium specialties. They can conquer Sofia Goggia, Marta Bassino and Federica Brignone, which serve a seventh respectively, a second and a first place to climb Lara Gut, currently third, but absent due to injury. It expected to close in the first ten also Manuela Mölgg, seventh on the eve of the last race.
THE QUALIFIED TO ASPEN GIANT
As known, the Finals can participate in only the first 25 of the ranking of the season's specialties being the champion of the world, the world junior champion and all those who have gained at least 500 points in the overall standings of the World Cup. Therefore, this is the list of ALL qualified, regardless of their status (the injured or not used to this specialty logically not participate).

The female Giant Aspen, last race of the 2016-17 World Cup, will be held Sunday, March 19. The first race will start at 16:00 hours Italian, local 9:00, the second at Italian 18:30 local 11:30.
