More than four months after the Garmisch accident, the Bavarian champion returns to the snow: "The base in Saas-Fee".

He had not had the usual continuity in his discipline, the giant slalom, but he had found himself in the speed obtaining the first downhill victory at home, on February 8th in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
Twenty-four hours later, the 2019/2020 season of Viktoria Rebensburg had ended with the fall in the super-g costing the giant Olympian the fracture of the head of the tibia of a left leg now finally healed. As confessed to colleague Andreas Raffeiner of skiweltcup.tv, the 30-year-old from Kreuth, the recovery is now complete and the reference champion of the German team is ready to get serious on the track in the coming weeks.
“Garmisch's injury was a real bad luck, I was in excellent shape but we know the risks of the trade. Rehabilitation has been good and I can train normally. On the snow? We will not be able to go to Argentina, we will probably be based in Saas-Fee, but we must see how the situation linked to the pandemic will develop.
The intention - explains "Viki" - is to concentrate on training in giant, with some super-g sessions, but I hope above all that we can prepare according to the plans. It is important to regain confidence early, not skiing since February ”.
Rebensburg has suffered a lot in giant over the past year, also receiving criticism from the same great head of the alpine sector in the German federsci, Wolfgang Maier: "It is a fact that competition in this discipline has a very high level, therefore to win you have to be at the maximum. I want to regain my continuity in the next season, while in the speed it went quite well, with the super-g victory in Lake Louise and the downhill one in Garmisch, on a very difficult track ".
And the theme of the possible shift of the world championships in Cortina to 2022 is clearly a topic that also faces the Bavarian, who agrees with all colleagues. “It would be damaging for both the Olympics and the World Cup itself, both events would lose a lot of value. If I had to take on the role of president of the FIS, I would try everything to ensure that in Cortina we compete in 2021 ".
