Shiffrin's journey, over 9 years from that first podium in Lienz to get to Flachau centello

On Tuesday evening the American champion reached an important milestone, in just 183 World Cup races. From that 3rd place with bib number 40, behind two champions such as Schild and Maze, a star was born: it was 29 December 2011.

The podium number 100 of Mikaela Shiffrin could not have arrived with a "simple" placement on the podium, the one that was touched upon in Zagreb in the previous slalom. And so, the triple figure coincided with the return to victory in his favorite discipline, on the night of Flachau which earned the 68th pearl in the World Cup for the American champion, the 44th among the narrow posts. In a single specialty, only Ingemar Stenmark did better with 46 giant seals, and the Swedish ace himself leads the absolute standings of podiums at 155, ahead of Marcel Hirscher (138) and the first woman of the ranking, Lindsey Vonn with 137 top 3 placements. Many fans will remember it, but the first of Mikaela's 100 cup podiums (in only 183 races!) Arrived in Lienz, in the slalom staged on the "Schlossberg" on December 29, 2011: then 16, she was already considered an immense talent, he placed himself in firing position for the attack on the podium, starting with the bib number 40, to get there with the best time in the 2nd heat and finish behind only two consecrated stars of those times, or Marlies Schild who won with 79 cents over Tina Maze and, in fact, 1 ”30 over Shiffrin. A little less than a year later (December 20, 2012), on the third podium in CdM, came the first victory in the Are slalom. Returning to Lienz and that first confrontation with Schild, it is curious to note how the Austrian ski star was overtaken by Mikaela, in the first place of the multiple victors in CdM slalom, exactly seven years after that 29 December 2011 when, in the Semmering race, the American wrote 36 in the box of hits between the tight posts, one more than Marlies. From 1 to 100 passing through ... 50, another important date is that of 19 December 2017, with the champion of Eagle to get the 50th podium in the World Cup on the occasion of the success in the giant of Courchevel, literally dominated in front to Tessa Worley and Manuel Moelgg. Last night, it was Liensberger and Holdener who “accompanied” the queen in a new record-breaking performance.
