Killington is preparing to rediscover the Women's World Cup, two years after the last time, with the giant on Saturday 27 on the "Superstar" (track a bit short for the discipline, but still very interesting) followed on Sunday by the third seasonal slalom, after the two of Levi.
Almost all the athletes we will see protagonists over the weekend are already overseas, including those coming directly from Levi and those who have prepared the challenges in Vermont at Copper Mountain. Like Tessa Worley, who will lead France in the giant that the champion of Le Grand-Bornand won in 2016, in the very first edition of an event that has already become a classic of the circuit, apart from the pandemic. With her we will find Coralie Frasse-Sombet, Clara Direz and Doriane Escane, with the latter who will then do an encore in slalom, the only transalpine on the track together with Nastasia Noens, who in the opening in Finland obtained only two decent placings ( 26th and 27th).
Seven Swiss women we will find at the gate, with Lara Gut-Behrami confirmed at the start (as we reiterated yesterday after the “Blick” advances) after winning the race against time in terms of vaccination to enter the States; together with the Ticino, in search of the red bib considering that in Soelden she finished second, obviously we will see Michelle Gisin and Wendy Holdener, growing after two good slaloms in Levi, Mélanie Meillard, who instead needs to regain confidence after a thousand problems, Andrea Ellenberger , Simone Wild and Camille Rast.
Gisin and Holdener will be the headlights of the Red Cross team for Sunday's slalom, with Rast, Meillard, Elena Stoffel and Nicole Good completing the line-up.
Six Swedes called up for the trip overseas, with Sara Hector "captain" for both events, although obviously the main point for the slalom will be Anna Swenn-Larsson, already in the top 5 in Levi on her return. Between the tight posts we will see Charlotta Saefvenberg and Magdalena Fjaellstroem, in giant Estelle Alphand (1st and 2nd in the two Nor-Am Cup races at Copper Mountain) and double engagement, barring surprises, also for the very young Hanna Aronsson Elfman.
