Kronplatz presents the new "Sorega" (for training), Killington trembles without ... snow

As the World Cup awaits news from Lech and then moves to Levi, there are doubts for technical competitions in Vermont. On 24 January 2023 the classic giant on the "Erta", with a new black run created parallel to the race slope.

From Lech / Zuers, with the parallels of 12-13 November still in doubt given the situation of the temperatures of the period and also expected for the first week of next month, to the Levi slalom of 19-20 November, which should instead travel fast towards confirmation, the Women's World Cup will then move towards the North American snows. The stage that has now become classic in Killington, with the giant on Saturday 26th (who jumped last year due to wind and ... storm) and the slalom on Sunday 27th on the "Superstar", is still a long way off but there are concerns also in Vermont regarding the snow which is very complicated precisely because, even in that area of the United States, the heat is king. For the next ten days, it will hardly drop below 0 ° and we must hope that in the second week of November, before the FIS snow check scheduled for Wednesday 16 (ten days before the giant, which will be the inaugural one of the season after the cancellation of Soelden), the long-awaited cold arrives. Speaking of women's CdM, at Kronplatz we are already thinking of the event that, on January 24th, will see the gigantists again protagonists of the splendid race on the “Erta”, which in just a few years has already become the most awaited classic of the circuit. The novelty, announced last season and confirmed in the last few hours by the organizing committee, concerns the new training track (which will also be used for winter tourism) which descends to the left of the race track at the height of the "murone" of Erta . It is the “Sorega”, a black one of 1450 meters in length, with 435 meters of altitude and a maximum gradient of 70%; the athletes will be able to use it, even in the pre-race warm-up, and who knows that in the future it may not become the track for a slalom in the South Tyrolean area ...
