Having hosted five men's trials in two weekends, the girls will battle it out on the snows of Val d'Isere. The long weekend will start with a Combined Alpina.

Val d'Isere, the town of about 1,600 inhabitants, is one of the historical sites of the World Alpine Ski Women's Cup. Located in Haute Savoie in fact hosted its first race, one Giant Slalom, in 1968. Since then 83 total trials of the World Cup as well as the World Cup of 2009, while medals of the Albertville Olympic Games, in contrast to their male colleagues, were assigned on the slopes of Meribel.
The three women's day will start with a Combined Alpina. There are 9 races in Val d'Isere in this discipline despite the name changes - from a Super Combined Combined Combined Alpina up to the present - and regulation - from the calculation of FIS points to the sum of a dive times, and two rounds of slalom up to the current Downhill race + slalom heats.
The biggest winner in this event is Marie-Therese Nadig, who won the first 3 Combine played on this slope between 1978 and 1979. It follows at 2 Lindsey Vonn, winner of the two Supercombinate 2009 and 2010, while Lara Gut became part of the Combined Alpina disputed twelve months ago. The holder of the crystal ball can also boast the world silver in 2009 in the race that gave Kathrin Zettel the only gold medal in his career in a main event.
At the podium level are three girls at the top of the standings. Marie-Therese Nadig, Lindsey Vonn and Hanni Wenzel have indeed won 3 top three apiece in the Val d'Isere Combined, but if the first two have managed to climb the top step of the podium, the champion of Liechtenstein has to settle for a second and two third places. A portion 3 there is also Elisabeth Görgl, which ranked third in December 2009 and the second in 2010 World Cup adds the bronze medal of the 2009 World Cup.
Finally it should be mentioned the race of 20 December 1997, when Hilde Gerg won ahead of Katja Seizinger and Martina Ertl Renz for a German hat-trick was repeated prior to Ã…re (with Ertl and Seinzinger that reversed their positions) and then, above all, the Olympics Nagano, with Seizinger, who won ahead of Ertl and Gerg. Since then, Germany has not been able to monopolize the podium in a race for the World Cup Alpine Skiing Female.
Less luck instead for Italy, who never got any podium in a female Combined which took place in Val d'Isere. The best result is the seventh place by Daniela Merighetti in the race of 19 December 2010. They will try this year the blue to buck the trend of a historically hostile discipline.
The Combined Alpine Val d'Isere will be held Friday, December 16th. The heats will start Descent 10:30 hours, the Slalom at 14.
