A first time of the individual parallel to the world championships, albeit between absences, first of all that of the new combined world champion, Mikaela Shiffrin (who had already made this decision for some time), and a format and a choice on the race tracks they made and they argue.
Tuesday at 9.00 we start with the girls and the qualifying phase, already decidedly selective: on the Cinque Torri slope, before moving on to the Rumerlo area (the one to be clear of today's slalom of the combined) for the final phase at 14.00 , 52 athletes will be protagonists, who will play the pass for the second round (from that moment onwards with a double run) on a dry run, instead of two as in the previous ones in the World Cup, including the only season in Lech.
The 8 best times will pass on the red track and the 8 best on the blue, in order to shorten the times since then at 10.00 the men will be protagonists. A format that could change the cards on the table, but in any case it will be a competition open to all kinds of surprises, perhaps arriving right from home in Italy where the first medal is still being sought.
Marta Bassino, the first to start on the blue track, has already done well (fifth) in Lech at the end of November and is well suited to the parallel giant, as is Federica Brignone (seventh in Austria) who will start immediately after Petra Vlhova on the red track. The Slovakian will be the reference, also thinking about her victory in Lech and the historical precedents, but the unknowns will be many for her too. Wendy Holdener and Lara Gut-Behrami also competing, composing the Swiss quartet with Jasmina Suter and Camille Rast.
Austria will focus on Liensberger and Gritsch, as well as Siebenhofer and Brunner, as will Tessa Worley and obviously Paula Moltzan, the American second in Lech. And then Hector, Gasienica-Daniel, Lysdahl, Hrovat, the very young Slokar and Aicher. And in Italy also Lara Della Mea, a real specialist (even if the PGS could be a different story), and Laura Pirovano will try to sign the surprise.
