Time for “La VolatA”. At Passo San Pellegrino everything is ready for the historic debut of the Women's World Cup on the snows of Val di Fassa, with the splendid Trentino track that will host, from Friday to Sunday, two descents and a super-g.
Wednesday, with departure set at 10.15, the first of the two scheduled tests; Laura Pirovano will open the training with bib n ° 1, then Marta Bassino with 4 and Federica Brignone with 7, among the ten Italians at the starting gate. Compared to the official call-ups, there will therefore be no Giulia Albano, with only one blue who will not compete between Sosio, Runggaldier and Dolmen, who will make selection in practice.
Also noteworthy is the absence of Ester Ledecka, who has decided to better prepare for the snowboard world championships scheduled for next week in Rogla, also because the Czech champion is practically out of the game for the specialty cups. In this sense, however, the choice of Ledecka can affect the outcome of the race to the crystal ball of descent, with Breezy Johnson and Corinne Suter (formally, Gut-Behrami would also be in the race with three successes) who find themselves a rival less to recover respectively 195 and 210 points behind the leader Sofia Goggia, clearly in the pits.
Confirmed, but there was no doubt in this sense, the lack of presence of Mikaela Shiffrin who will only prepare the technical races of this season finale, starting from those of Jasna, all the interest is on the distance comparison between Petra Vlhova , tomorrow in practice with the number 3, Michelle Gisin (will start with the 14) and Gut-Behrami (who chose the 19 for the first training) who has to recover only 42 points to the Slovak for the top of the general.
There will be internal selection between Wednesday and Thursday also in Austria, on a track that tomorrow will give us the first indications on what may happen considering that this is an absolute novelty for all the protagonists of the white circus.
