The 15-year-old Piedmontese who chose Albania for her landing in the white circus, after ten victories in the South American races, travels to the opening on 22 October on the Rettenbach. With mother Daniela Ceccarelli careful not to burn it ("he must enjoy it") and precedents that bring us back to Shiffrin and Kostelic.

He will do it with the red and black colors of the Albanian national team and all this has led many Italian fans to contest a choice, that of Lara Colturi and her family, certainly particular and in some ways perhaps risky.
In fact, for the very young Piedmontese she is led to forge ahead, on the other hand the results obtained at the youth level have always been of the highest level (even if there are those who dispute too much preparation and support " extremes ”for a girl of her age), and the World Cup debut is already upon us for the daughter of Daniela Ceccarelli and Alessandro Colturi.
On Saturday 22 October in Soelden, unless there are any surprises or changes in these two weeks, Lara will be at the starting gate of the inaugural giant of the 2022/23 season on the Rettenbach: a thrilling first on the most demanding wall of the Women's World Cup, but the Daniela Ceccarelli herself specified, in recent days to the “skinews.ch” portal, that “if Lara is there she will leave without any particular expectations, but with the right attitude to enjoy this great adventure”.
The talent born in 2006 achieved ten victories in his first outings at the FIS level, facing a couple of months between training and competitions in South America, fundamental for scores and experience in a certain context, even if the competition was far from irresistible and Colturi has clearly won the general classification of the South American Cup. Just in the last slalom in Cerro Castor, in mid-September, Lara has shown, however, that she can hold up the comparison with some athletes of the World Cup, obtaining placings among Swedes, French and the same blue present in Argentina.
Soelden will be something else, of course, but in any case on the Rettenbach the young Albanian (it's still strange to remember it, we'll get used to it) will set a record, becoming the youngest athlete ever at the start of a World Cup race: Mikaela Shiffrin made her debut two days before celebrating her 16 years, on 11 March 2011 in Spindleruv Mlyn, Lara Colturi will be 15 years, 11 months and 9 days old, she was born on 15 November 2006.
As his colleague Gianmario Bonzi recalled, there are those who made their debut in Soelden (after having played just three races, all in Cortina, in the previous season) with a bang: it was a certain Janica Kostelic, in the 1998 edition of the giant on the Rettenbach, finishing 12th, when he was 16 years and 9 months on his identity card at the time.
Just yesterday, the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, expressed his "good luck" to the only representative of his nation at certain levels. Only time will tell if it will become a great regret for the blue ski.
