The Swiss squadron for Soelden: "trident" with Gisin, Gut-Behrami and Holdener, still in doubt Suter

The nine athletes have been chosen for Saturday's opening on the Rettenbach, even if the Olympic downhill champion will decide only on the eve of whether to participate. And watch out for Camille Rast ...

A squadron that definitely aims high, to start the season on the right foot that will start on Saturday with the female giant in Soelden. Swiss-Ski has announced the choices for the opening of the World Cup: few surprises, among the nine names in the list released today and led by the one who has won twice on the Rettenbach. Lara Gut-Behrami, in fact, won the first appointment of the year both in 2013 and in 2016, but even 12 months ago she went very close to the trio, folded on the woolen thread by Mikaela Shiffrin. If the Ticino is given in excellent shape, a similar argument applies to Michelle Gisin, at the absolute debut with new materials. Then there are two other top-level arrows in the Rossocrocia home, despite being out of the world top 15 of specialties, namely Wendy Holdener and Camille Rast. Also convene Andrea Ellenberger, Simone Wild, Vivianne Haerri, Vanessa Kasper and Corinne Suter, even if in the case of the Olympic downhill champion, it will be decided whether or not to take part in the opening, also considering the proximity to the two slopes of Zermatt- Cervinia, in the days preceding the challenge on Saturday.
