The last race in Val Disere will SuperG Female

The third and final weekend of the Alpine Ski World Cup on the snows of Val d'Isere concludes with a SuperG Female.

Val d'Isere, the town of about 1,600 inhabitants, is one of the historical sites of the World Alpine Ski Women's Cup. Located in Haute Savoie in fact hosted its first race, one Giant Slalom, in 1968. Since then 84 total trials of the World Cup as well as the World Cup of 2009, while medals of the Albertville Olympic Games, in contrast to their male colleagues, were assigned on the slopes of Meribel. On Sunday, the three women's day will end with a Super G discipline that made its debut in Val d'Isere in 1986, remained on the calendar from 1995 to 2002 before returning sporadically in 2005, in 2009 and 2014. In all, 14 of the Super-G of the World Cup played in the Savoyard. The prize for most successful athlete in this race is up to Katja Seizinger, able to impose itself in the two editions dated February 1996 and 18 December 1997 for a total of 3. Only two other girls were able to repeat a success: Alexandra Meissnitzer won 7 December 1995 - the date that corresponds also to his first career victory in the World Cup - and December 10, 1996, while Hilde Gerg was imposed December 12, 1996 and December 15, 2001. Also ranking relative to the podium speaks German. Hilde Gerg has in fact closed for 5 times in the top three in the Super G in Val d'Isere (2 wins, 1 second and 2 third places), Katja Seizinger and Renate Götschl 4, Michaela Dorfmeister and Alexandra Meissnitzer 3. Curiously Lindsey Vonn, the most successful woman ever in this specialty, won just one podium in this race, the third of 20 December 2009, however it should not forget that it was in Val d'Isere won his only world title in Super-G. At an altitude of 3 podiums there's Isolde Kostner: the champion of Ortisei boasts a victory (8 December 1999), a second (4 February 1996) and a third place (12 December 1996) in the Super G in Val d'Isere. In addition to her, as regards Italy, Daniela Ceccarelli only managed to get a podium in this race, the second of 13 December 2002, the second and final top three in the World Cup for the Olympic champion of Salt Lake specialties City. The Super G in Val d'Isere will be held Sunday, Dec. 18. The first athlete will leave the starting gate at 10:30.
