She was able to ski a little on the glaciers of the Alps, like most of her colleagues, but she is already very satisfied with the work put together on the Argentine snows, in the first two full weeks of training in Ushuaia.
Marta Bassino smiles and, through the FISI press office, talks about herself from Tierra del Fuego in the middle of the journey of this long South American camp, essential not only for getting ready to the opening in Soelden, which the 26-year-old from Cuneo already conquered in 2020, but for the entire year 2022/23 that will lead up to the world championships in Courchevel Méribel.
The standard-bearer of the Army Sports Center has just returned from a season that, although without a victory in the World Cup, has seen her still get on the podium on four occasions and finish in the top ten of the general classification, closing in growth and touching successes in the giants of Are and finals (just in Méribel ...). “The training is going very well - says Marta from South America - We found super conditions that allowed us to carry out beautiful days of work.
So far we have skied twelve days, divided into blocks of six, with a day of rest in between. At first we used giant skis, then we switched to short slalom skis and after the day off we started again with the giant, now we are concentrating on the super-g. Here in Argentina it is possible to give continuity to the preparation, we put in an extra brick day after day. We are more or less halfway through the trip, we still have some time left to increase the laps.
It has been a smooth summer so far, I did the best dry preparation I could hope for, we are focused on the goals that await us next season starting with the World Cup, without forgetting the World Cup which will be the central hub ".
