Sankt Anton am Arlberg is a place that has made the history of skiing and that, due to the bad weather cancellations of the tests that should have taken place in 2016 and 2019, will only return in the next season (crossing your fingers at the weather level .. .) to host World Cup races, eight years after the last time. In 2013, on the legendary "Karl Schranz", the track dedicated to the champion symbol of the Tyrolean country, Alice McKennis won downhill in front of "Dada" Merighetti and Anna Fenninger, with the latter then second in super-g only at Tina Maze . On January 9-10, 2021, the return of the Women's World Cup with a downhill and an Alpine combined is expected, the same program staged in 2020 in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee (with victories respectively by Suter and Brignone, which leaves the place scheduled for the location which, among other things, will host the junior world championships in 2023. Last week there was the first inspection of the FIS, with the chief race director of the maximum women's circuit, Tarvisio Peter Gerdol, at work together with the various track managers and the organizing committee; maximum attention to safety conditions, considering that in 2019 they had already been placed on the track, in the wonderful area of the "ice waterfall" which then introduces new nets to evaluate on the final stretch. “We hope to finally see races here in Sankt Anton - Gerdol said through the press office of the Austrian event - and in view of the next season the safety plan in terms of anti-Covid-19 protocols will be just as important. We are waiting for them to plan these types of measures too ”.
