Alpine Skiingwomen's world cup
The cup leader came out of Sankt Moritz with two third places, difficult to see in Val d''Isère (with Courchevel and Lienz in the sights). For the Ticino a great fear, but the checks have ruled out serious problems.

They are the great rivals of the blue, starting from the super-g up to the fight for the overall World Cup, without forgetting of course Petra Vlhova who will try to remain clinging to the top by focusing on an extraordinary performance between slalom and giant.
Mikaela Shiffrine and Lara Gut-Behrami spent a weekend on a swing in Sankt Moritz, but certainly the one who comes out better from the two super-gs in the Engadine is the 26-year-old American. The three-time winner of the crystal ball and leader of the standings, took home two third places different from each other, "managing" in Saturday's race, which ended at 1 "18 just from the Ticino, in difficult visibility conditions for all, and attacking without much hesitation (starting with bib number 2 she was very good at doing it in the right way) in the second appointment, making a mistake in the critical passage before the Rominger, that cost the fall just to Lara, who forced her behind Brignone and Curtoni.
Mikaela has no regrets, at the podium number 112 in 201 CdM races (!), She who in Sankt Moritz is really at ease if we think that this super-g won it in 2018 and then, in the last three editions between 2019 and last weekend, he obtained three other podiums (always in third position): "It was difficult for everyone, with this wind you took a push from behind accelerating a lot - said Shiffrin - I tried to push and trust me, making good turns and being comfortable on the ski. I am satisfied with the results, at the same time sorry for the crashes and fingers crossed also for my teammate Isabella Wright ”.
The Avon champion will almost certainly not be at the start of the downhill tests in Val d''Isère, an appointment that she has always sacrificed to concentrate on the technical competitions at the end of the year (and with the double giant of Courchevel close to the challenges on the Oreiller-Killy, all the more reason ...), even if next Sunday's super-g would clearly see her as one of the favorites, to maintain that leadership in the general that Sofia Goggia (at -90 points) could already blow from her on Saturday.
Gut-Behrami's weekend instead started very well, with the splendid victory on Saturday that the Ticino was trying to replicate in yesterday's super-g bis: halfway through the race, Lara was in fact flanked by Federica Brignone, but that step discussed in this way was fatal, risking very big in the flight against the B nets. blow and a bruise on the shoulder.
No official declaration from the person concerned, but optimism filters through Swiss-Ski and the subsequent checks, after Lara had crossed the finish line on her skis, and then left the parterre a few minutes later (after having congratulated Federica Brignone), excluding further problems.
Unless there are sensational surprises we will see her in Val d''Isère to try to recover the super-g red bib lost yesterday and fight for important points even on the descent, even though the gap from Shiffrin has now returned well above 200 points.
What matters, given how the situation had turned out, is to have saved my skin.
