In a controversy with the Hungarian Federsci Edit MiklÃ³s with a very long post on Facebook announced Thursday his retirement from competitions and his candidacy for the federal presidency.

In fact, I firmly believe that the sport of skiing will exploit my ambitions, my professional knowledge and my determination to help the younger generations of skiers in a profitable way, if I will be their leader. I repeat, it was not an easy decision to make. My health is NOT the reason why I stop competing. But skiing is my life and it will always be. I can not sit down and look at how the empire that was built, and for which I put so much effort, is about to be destroyed. Destroyed by no one else but by the current management, whose operation is very unprofessional and unreasonable. And even more, I think it means a serious danger to the future of Hungarian ski sport. Therefore, I decided to interrupt my sports career and run for president in the general assembly of the Hungarian ski federation which will be held this Sunday. First of all, I would like to say THANK YOU to my family. They have always been by my side and have chosen this sport for me. Thank you, my friends, on which I could always count. And thank you very much to YOU, my fans, who have followed me throughout my career and have always supported me. I would also like to thank my sponsors for playing such an important role in addressing my goals. " Born on March 31, 1988 in Miercurea Ciuc, Romania, Edit MiklÃ³s began to compete for his native country, then move to Hungary in 2011. Specialist in the fast races, he made his debut at the World Cup in the super-G in Val d 'IsÃ¨re of December 18, 2005. It was eight times in the top ten, all downhill, and in two of these occasions it was third, January 24, 2015 in St. Moritz and December 3, 2016 in Lake Louise. Between 2009 and 2015 he participated in four editions of the World Championships, finishing thirteenth downhill three years ago as the best result. It was also at the Olympics in 2010 and 2014, on the latter occasion it was seventh downhill. In the last two seasons he suffered serious knee injuries that prevented him from competing at the World Championships in 2017 and the Olympics this year, his last World Cup race, his 106th, was the super-G in Bad Kleinkirchheim last January 13 in which he fell after the finish line breaking the front crusader of his right knee. But, as you wrote, it is not for the injuries that the skis hang on the nail.
