Sophie, crusader rupture confirmed: she has already been operated on in Turin. Mathiou's reaction: "I'll be back"

The blue slalom skier injured her left knee in the FIS slalom at Kronplatz and is awaiting a long recovery. "I'll do my best to get back on my feet as before."

The diagnosis is unfortunately confirmed, even if the first indications from the FISI had already been very clear, and Sophie Mathiou's 2022/23 season, with the aim of returning to the World Cup despite having experienced a difficult period on the competitive plan, it's already over. For the junior slalom world champion (in March 2021 in Bansko), it is a question of tearing the anterior cruciate ligament and medial meniscus of the left knee, remedied by falling in the FIS slalom which took place last Wednesday at Kronplatz. The twenty-year-old from Valle d'Aosta, as she announced on social media, has already been operated on in Turin and is now called to recover from the first serious injury of her career, with the aim of returning to the beginning of the 2023/24 season. Sophie already has very clear ideas: “I didn't think it could ever happen to me, yet I'm here - the words of the blue slalom skier - The operation went well and now I'm ready to give my best to get back on my feet as before. I have to thank the FISI Medical Commission, Dr. Rossi and his always very professional team, my family for always being close to me at this moment and all the people who have had a thought for me. I'll be back".
