The race is back more than two weeks after the parallel of Lech / Zuers which marked the consecutive trio of the World Cup leader, Petra Vlhova.
The women's white circus restarts after the cancellation of the super-g of Sankt Moritz and does so, for the first weekend on the French snows (next week we will go to Val d''Isère to start with speed), with other doubts linked to the weather for the two giants scheduled for Saturday and Sunday (heats always set at 9.30 and 12.30, with live TV on Eurosport and Rai Sport) in Courchevel.
There are already a lot of unknowns related to the snow conditions of the Stade Emile-Allais, moreover snow is still expected until tomorrow morning and it will not be easy to bring home the first of the two races (unlike Sankt Moritz , however, there is a window to compete even on Mondays as happened for men in Santa Caterina Valfurva).
Race 1, which represents the second specialty appointment almost two months after the opening in Soelden, will be opened with bib n ° 1 by Petra Vlhova herself, followed by Mikaela Shiffrin returning to the giant eleven months after the last contest. in Sestriere, and by Alice Robinson who will race on the track (with fairly tight meshes and a lot of curves) designed by her technician Chris Knight (the second was instead entrusted to the Austrian Zoechling).
It was not an exactly lucky draw for the Italians, considering the danger of a track that could deteriorate: for her first as leader of the specialty classification, Marta Bassino will drop fourth with her flaming red bib, followed by Mina Fuerst Holtmann , here second 12 months ago and beaten by 4 cents by Federica Brignone, who instead drew 7 and will come out of the starting gate after Wendy Holdener.
In the second sub-group of merit, Sofia Goggia (returned to the world top 15 thanks to the 6th place in Soelden) had the number 14 in the lot, while Brunner will start with 8 before a terrifying Michelle Gisin, with Worley in the race at home with 10 on his shoulders. Attention, however, also to Hector with the 11, to the return of Mowinckel in the race after 645 days (bib 12 for the Norwegian) and especially to Lara Gut-Behrami (13) and a Meta Hrovat (15) in search of ransom.
There are eight blue enrolled: Elena Curtoni returns to the race in a CdM giant after 22 months and will have the number 32, much higher bibs instead for Luisa Bertani (47), Roberta Melesi (49), Valentina Cillara Rossi (50) and Laura Pirovano with 65, in a battle to hit the top 30 and therefore the qualification is the first mission.
