Crazy tracking in Semmering, Gut-Behrami and Shiffrin fly in the 1st heat: Bassino is third

Call it giant, or super-g: the Slovak drawing exalts Lara, while Vlhova herself suffers from it and finishes almost a second and a half away. The American is second to two tenths from the Ticino, "Bax" pays 8 and precedes the duo Brignone-Hector.

A crazy layout, useless to define it in a different way, given that we are talking about a giant, the fourth of the season of CdM and the second in a row on the Semmering Panorama, transformed into a sort of super-g, for less than 60 seconds of a first run sprint that launches Lara Gut-Behrami in the lead, with the dream of repeating Killington's victory. The design by Matej Gemza, a technician who has been following Petra Vlhova for years as assistant coach, before Livio Magoni and now alongside Mauro Pini, actually goes against the Slovakian champion, who takes a 1"42 gap and seems cut out of contention for the narrow victory in race-1. Gut-Behrami's interpretation was exceptional, but Mikaela Shiffrin's response was equally high quality: the winner of the first giant, who aims for the sixth seal in Semmering, starts fortissimo again making a gap in the initial plan, then manages as yesterday a little too deep, but it is only 22 cents from the Ticino and has a good margin over the other rivals. Starting with Marta Bassino, very solid but certainly unable to express her technical qualities 100% with a track like this: the rider from Cuneo is still third, 81 cents behind the top with the goal of 4th podium in as many races there near. In the 2nd heat, which starts at 1.00 pm on a Swedish design, Sara Hector will try to exalt herself, fourth at 1"01 as well as Federica Brignone, then the gaps start to become really important. Vlhova is also preceded by Truppe, sixth at 1"39, then there is Gasienica-Daniel at 1"60 and Worley, who starts with 1 but never enters the race and this year, most likely, he won't play for the podium in "his" Semmering, he even ends up at 1"90 (behind Tviberg and Haaser, ninth and tenth, and 5 hundredths ahead of Grenier, who starts with the No. 18 but disputes a good race after the blow from yesterday's disqualification), with Mowinckel at 2"21, another disappointment in this first heat on a par with Liensberger (+ 2"69 and out of 3pm).
