If the Bormio stage, which will see the jet men return as protagonists on December 28-29 with a descent and super-g on the "Stelvio", had already been confirmed this week with the FIS snow control, today the green light has also arrived for the women's post-Christmas World Cup stage, scheduled for the same days in Semmering.
Not a trivial and obvious fact, given that in Lower Austria the snow conditions are always at risk, but there will be regularly the Austrian stage which, traditionally, alternates with Lienz after the holidays.
The fourth giant of the season will then take place on Monday 28 December, with yet another battle between the blue, Vlhova, Shiffrin and ... who knows: times set at 10.00 and 13.00 for the two heats, while the slalom (the third of cup after the two Levis) on Tuesday 29 will see the first heat take place at 15.15, with the return of the night for the decisive run, starting at 18.30 (and it will be the same in Zagreb and Flachau).
The precedents of recent years in Semmering are interesting: in the 2018 edition, held on the same days of 28 and 29 December, Petra Vlhova bent Rebensburg and Worley in giant, with Shiffrin "only" fifth ahead of Brignone (and Bassino tenth ), while in slalom came the redemption of Mikaela, triumphant in front of Petra and the “usual” Wendy Holdener, with Irene Curtoni seventh.
In 2016, however, Shiffrin signed an extraordinary hat-trick as two giants were disputed (with Manuela Moelgg's podium in the first), and as it happens the champion of Eagle is preparing to the best, having sacrificed the weekend of speed in Val d ' 'Isère, the return to the race in the two crucial Austrian events that could bring it even closer to the full fight for the crystal ball.
