The municipal administration of Bergamo awarded a special prize to the Olympic champion. His emotion.

A gold medal that is added to that Olympic downhill title of PyeongChang 2018, but which has a particular flavor as it is linked to its land.
Bergamo and Sofia Goggia, an important bond that yesterday evening, at the Teatro Sociale of the Orobic city, the mayor Giorgio Gori sealed by delivering an award expected for years (and which had never been assigned to the blue champion as usually the ceremony took place in winter). The municipal administration has set up an extraordinary council to formalize the titling of merit and the gold medal of the Municipality of Bergamo to the Bergamo downhill skier.
Sofia, on stage wearing the uniform of her Yellow Flames, was particularly excited. “I really thank Mayor Gori and the Municipality for the honor that was awarded to me, a very special gold medal”.
By commuting between Verona, where she continues her training with the athletic base towards the new season, and Bergamo, today the three-time winner of the Downhill World Cup will have another "special" appointment, returning to visit her calf Ambrosi, the creature that was awarded to her by winning the descent of Val d''Isère in December 2020.
