The podium number 48 in the World Cup closes a very special weekend for Federica Brignone in Lenzerheide, if we think that yesterday the first crystal ball of her career in super-g arrived for the Aosta Valley, and today she found a podium again which was missing for almost 450 days in a giant of the maximum circuit, although of course the Olympic silver won a few weeks ago in Yanqing still shines.
Of course, with a second to recover in the decisive heat and the victory at just 29 cents, which ended up in the hands of her friend and colleague Tessa Worley, some regrets may exist but the Aosta Valley champion herself, now third in the solo overall, takes care of it. 225 points from Mikaela Shiffrin (with Are technical competitions on the horizon, objectively the comeback appears prohibitive), to deny this feeling. Finally I feel freer, I started in the first stage, but I told myself that I should enjoy it, go all out and I succeeded. I tried to stick, to feel my skis sticking to the snow and it came as I wanted. I dedicate this podium to my fans who were able to come back to follow us, to those who woke up at night for the Olympics but above all to me, my brother and my skimen for an extraordinary season. I add a dedication to all those who have helped me in our work, to the team, and I have to thank them because these results are above all thanks to them. Roberta Melesi, 19th, today obtained the best result in a CdM giant: “Surely, in a season of ups and downs, I'm happy to have put together two heats. My skiing is still far from the best but I start from here. I tried to give everything today and I hope that in the next giant, in a few days, I will be able to put together other pieces to get closer to the best performance. I was unable to find continuity, also due to personal problems, it was not easy and it showed why I had zero stability in the results. I expected more from myself, but this is sport and we will try to look forward ”.
