“Petra”, simply and in all its essence. An auto biographical book that Petra Vlhova launched just a couple of days before her debut in a season in which the Slovak champion will have to defend the World Cup won a few months ago in Lenzerheide.
As we had already guessed in recent months, between statements and programs with the new head coach of Team Vlhova, the Ticino-born Mauro Pini, in reality the intent is to approach the cup without particular pressure, focusing the sights on the Beijing Olympics where to go hunting for a first historic medal for you and your country. Petra will mainly focus on technical disciplines, but she certainly won't let the possibility of an encore slip.
After presenting a biography (pre-orderable through sportnet.sk who collaborated in the realization) in which "I talked about aspects never addressed before", Vlhova talked about his approach to Soelden and the new team. “I'm looking forward to the race, I have a great team by my side and I'm happy. It was my decision (to leave the technical guide of Livio Magoni, ed), I needed that change - underlined the 26-year-old from Liptovsky Mikulas - It wasn't easy, but I'm more serene and it's important to get results ".
Rettenbach, where he finished in 3rd place with a great comeback in last year's inaugural giant, likes the Slovakian: “I like such challenging slopes, I have the technique and the strength to manage them. With the start from the top, it is really tough to get to the finish in good condition. I know how to deal with it and we hope that the weather conditions are good for a great race ”.
MAGONI LAUNCHES HROVAT
After 5 years together with Petra Vlhova, for Livio Magoni it will be the first race without the athlete who first led to the world title in Are and then to the most coveted trophy, the absolute World Cup.
A new adventure with Meta Hrovat has begun for the technician from Bergamo and the approach to the seasonal opening has been optimal for the young Slovenian who is aiming for a qualitative leap in the year that will lead to the Olympics. Today the last real training, before skiing on the track on Friday morning, and apparently Hrovat is doing really well, times in hand. "We did four 40" tests to try again the technique and then a last one with open gas - explains Magoni himself - Then in the afternoon I work with start skates and roller skis (personally built by the coach from Selvino) to test the automatisms.
Tomorrow we will simulate all the competition times, even in terms of food we started to load carbohydrates after four days of protein. I can say that everything is going well ... ”.
And if Magoni the perfectionist says so, it is to be believed that Meta Hrovat will be worth keeping an eye on on Saturday morning on the Rettenbach.
