Speaking yesterday after having raised the crystal ball to the sky of Méribel, Tessa did not however guarantee the continuation of her career, even if the feeling is that we will see her again at the gate at the end of October in Soelden. "I knew it was going to be an exciting race, but up to this point I didn't imagine it - Worley's words to" Ski Chrono "- I had many dreams last night, many possible scenarios in my head and in the end it was again. everything ... different. After the first heat, I was a bit disappointed because I felt that I was moving away from the goal (with Shiffrin in command and virtually with the cup in hand, ed).
I gave my all in the second and fate worked in my favor; winning such a trophy in the home finals is simply incredible and this cup is even more beautiful because it was unexpected compared to 2017. This year, in fact, I started out as an outsider for the specialty classification ".
And again: “Living this in front of your audience is something that every athlete dreams of, you can't ask for anything better. There is this emotional side that is very important today thanks to the people and the fact of being able to meet, hug each other, be able to share such emotions together. And I feel all the emotion of my staff, of the coaches, I feel how happy they are. They sacrificed a lot of things to make everything work better ”.
A secret of longevity? “There are many aspects - explains Worley - The passion, the work, the entourage that follows you. I have changed staff and teammates throughout my career, but it has always been a driving force to be surrounded by people who made me believe in myself and who allowed me to express myself 100% ".
And about the 2023 World Cup, Tessa says: “It's hard to say no and, at the same time, I know all the sacrifices you have to make to get back into shape. If I come back next season, it is because I will still have the ability to perform and be able to win races. I don't want to have a winter with less physical and personal commitment; I will have to take a nice break this spring to ask myself the right questions, take stock and then know what I want to do for next year. For now, I'm fine and I'm in the game, so I want to continue ”.
