Lara Gut in press conference on Facebook: '' Never been so good, but I'm sorry '

In a press conference held in Zermatt broadcast live on his Facebook page and moderated by ex-skier Giulia Candiago Lara Gut says he has never been so good in recent years and has found himself as a person and athlete but announces that he will give up all '' Season opening on Rettenbach to be back on track in Killington at the end of November. Here are some extracts from the conference, which at the end of the article you can watch the video.

"I'm fine, I've never been as good as it is in recent years, the accident gives you the chance to find yourself and to understand who you are and what you are. The most important thing I learned is to be a person and athlete. When you get hurt, you realize people really count. The first time I got hurt at 18 I was locked in myself because I wanted to ski just enough, this time I rediscovered my friends, my Ticino ... there are so many beautiful things that have made me strong and that will make me strong as athlete. The list of people to thank is very long, from the surgeon to the team to my team with mom and dad and my super brother. And so many people I met on the street kept us coming back soon. What did I feel when I skipped? I did a bend and I said 'Well I can do it again and I can do it again!' In Chile I had very good feelings and no knee problems, I never got sick even if at first I could not bend it and restart skiing I immediately found the sensitivity and if it happened that I found myself on the left ski only the knee has never resented it. My knee taught me to be careful about myself. I spent so many hours with my teammates, they are all fantastic people. My thought was to get back into shape, then when I'm in the race I want to be fast and I'll try to do it every time, especially downhill, superG and combined, if I can win so many races then we can talk about any cups but now I do not talk about it. To get back fast I'll pass the next two months to train and jump in Sölden's opening. It's a special race but I usually do it when I've been back on skiing since July, this time it's not so, so I do not want to force the times. I think giving up on Sölden will give me the chance to be fast during the rest of the season, my goal being to be ready for the season, not for Sölden. "
