First training on the snow, after the serious injuries reported during last season, for two big riders of the maximum circuit.

Austria and Germany can smile, with Max Franz and Thomas Dressen back on skis after a long time in the pits, between recovery and rehabilitation.
The 29-year-old Carinthian resumed, on the Molltaler glacier, more than five months after the fracture suffered in the right heel, during the descent of Kitzbuhel; before the eyes of the manager Werner Franz, the winner of the last descent of Lake Louise (to be repeated a week later in the super-g of Beaver Creek) carried out fifteen laps between the wide doors, finding positive signals. "I am very happy, for me it was not a simple rehabilitation - Franz said - but this first day on skis already gives me great self-esteem".
The Austrian downhill skier will face the first training with his team mates at the end of July and, if all goes well, he will fly with them to Chile in early August to face the three weeks of work on South American snow.
Instead, 216 days have elapsed since the terrible fall of the Beaver Creek descent last November 30th, which caused the cruciate ligaments of the right knee to break as well as a dislocated left shoulder for Thomas Dressen's return to the snow. The resumption of the winner on the Streif in January 2018 (later repeated at Kvitfjell in the season of the 'German talent explosion') took place in Solden, where the World Cup will start again on the weekend of 26-27 October.
Even for the 25-year-old from Garmisch-Partenkirchen the first sensations were good, with the possibility of returning without problems in the race just one year after the accident, on November 30th in the Lake Louise descent. With Dressen, fellow countryman Andreas Sander is also training, which in reality had already started up again in June on the snows of Hintertux, he too after a long stop following the injury (right knee also in this case) that occurred to him at the end of December in Bormio.
