The heir of Mathias Berthold, the great leader of the German alpine skiing that he left at the end of this season, is the Austrian coach Christian Schwaiger, who in the last five years had already worked with excellent results within the speed sector, having brought at the highest level (and to win both at Kitzbuehel) Thomas Dressen and Josef Ferstl.
The 51-year-old from Saalfelden is therefore the new head coach at DSV and, in his resume, the experience of leading the female technical sector in the same German federation must be remembered, working both with Maria Hoefl-Riesch and in the service of Viktoria Rebensburg, but also head of the British Ski Association, since the time of the Baxter brothers.
"We have found the ideal successor of Berthold - said Wolfgang Maier, DSV Alpin's sporting director - Christian is technically very competent and already with great experience, he has known our system for years and has great merits in the positive development of our speed sector" .
