The slalom ace increases engine revs after working in Val d''Isère. On the snows of the Matterhorn, he confessed to the boys of Alpine Ski Racing Coach''s Corner.

For most professionals, Clément Noel is now the world reference point among the rapid gates, the predestined to take up Marcel Hirscher's legacy in slalom; 3 hits in the last season, as many as in 2018/19, and a few mistakes too mixed at a crazy speed. Since last weekend, together with the entire slalom team of the Team de France (including veterans Lizeroux and Grange) led by Simone Del Dio, the '' 97 native class of the Vosges has been training on the snows of Cervinia, which he had already stroked in summer 2019.
Noel began his preparation on skis in June, on the Pisaillas glacier in Val d''Isère, and he will clearly not be able to face the trip to Argentina where, last summer, he had back problems that partly affected his last season. With the desire to insert a little more giant in the menu, but with the focus that will remain mainly on its slalom to aim for all the objectives, including the World Championships in Cortina.
Interviewed by Fabrizio Malisan of "Alpine Ski Racing Coach''s Corner", the 23-year-old from Remiremont also talked about long-term goals, with the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games at the center of thoughts, he who at only 20 years was able to catch a sensational 4th place in the slalom of PyeongChang, just 4 cents from the bronze of Michi Matt, at the foot of the podium also in the team event. "Yes, the Olympics goal is clear, but from the cup to the world championships, it always counts to go fast and then everything arrives accordingly - said Clément in this regard - Here in Cervinia we are working on the slalom, the conditions are good and we are progressing positively ".
What is Noel looking for to grow continuously? The recipe is very simple: "The goal is to improve year after year, the details make the difference not only on a technical level, but also in the management of pressure and race situations".
