Confirmed the new serious injury for Urs Kryenbuehl: pelvic injury and operation today in Zurich

As soon as he returned to a podium in the European Cup, the Swiss sprinter yesterday fell in the final of the super-g in Saalbach (when he was playing for the success with the Azzurri Franzoni and Molteni) and his season ends here.

For Urs Kryenbuehl a decent return to the World Cup was not enough, in the season following the serious injury in Kitzbuehel (right knee crusader and severe concussion), to win the pass for the Beijing Olympic Games. And so, the talented red-cross sprinter also returned to compete in some European Cup races, participating in the Saalbach-Hinterglemm triptych with a nice 2nd place in the second downhill, beaten only by Jeffrey Read, before playing for the success in the super-g of yesterday. Right in the final, with Kryenbuehl ahead also against Giovanni Franzoni, who will then win the race, here is the fall and a new serious injury. Yes, because Swiss-Ski has communicated that the athlete suffered a pelvic injury with a fracture of the pubic symphysis, with a surgical operation already necessary today in Zurich. Season over, although fortunately there have been no injuries to internal organs, and a recovery that will have to begin soon to show up at the gate in the next year, hopefully starting from the brand new stage of Cervinia / Zermatt in autumn.
